Spiritual Principles

The most essential and foundational principle or law of consciousness is SILENCE.

We most often think of this silence as the quiet we experience in prayer, meditation, beauty, love, art, nature or any transcendent experience we are drawn to. Quiet stillness is the core of presence in this moment which is the only moment that exists. It is in full presence that we can and are creating a relationship with/experience of our eternal, divine, soul awareness.

The practice of quiet is so much more necessary in every aspect of our lives than we initially realize.

Yes, quiet is the quiet of meditation and all that draws us into the fullness of the moment we are in right now. It is also the quiet that precedes full presence with our breath/breathing, deep inquiry into ourselves, the capacity to fully access our emotions without a story, to just feel, to truly listen to another able to take in what they are saying without needing to agree or disagree or plan our response thereby allowing a response that is born in the moment of our listening fully to the other.

In quiet stillness we are aligning with the in and out breath of the universe, of God, of consciousness itself. Here is where truth lies which is not in the mind’s continuous attempts to turn our attention to our old/limiting narratives or those of others, those of societies or nations. Naturally we are part of families, friends, cultures, nations and the world yet we often forget these identities/stories are temporary; they are stories of our personalities not our eternal souls.

In the ever noisier world we inhabit where information is available 24/7, where we are constantly bombarded by screens and screeds, where pressure to achieve and the need to multitask are escalating in order to attempt to keep up, where weekends and sleep are less and less undisturbed, it is challenging to just stop, take time to rest, play, enjoy human pleasures yet it is so much more necessary if we are to be healthy in body, mind and spirit. Silence is our most powerful tool to be in the present moment where all power and insight exist.
