One of the most heartfelt and persistent questions I am asked is “realistically, do you have hope in these dark, painful, frightening and dangerous times?” It has also been a question on my heart. Throughout my whole being and consciousness I do feel hope. The hope I feel has grown consistently/expansively more and more in recent years.
My hope is grounded on my own direct experience both internally in my spiritual practices, my work, the people in my life and externally in the lives, in the works, in the depth of consciousness, beauty, caring, opening and healing I see in the world. The number of people I meet who are awakening, serving in creative, spiritual, and healing lives and works is expanding day by day beyond anything I have ever seen.
The profound discoveries in science, technology, and consciousness are opening the doors to a timeline in which we can live awake, joyfully and lovingly. When we look at the outer world, we see nearly the opposite in nearly everything. However, these extremes between the outer world with its stories of rage, pain, power, and fear have reached a tipping point because they are not sustainable. Humanity is broadly saying it does not want war, or hunger, or oppression, or death or disease or lack. True, there are very divergent views on how to create a livable, abundant world where we can prosper yet the desire is there on all sides to be safe, free, and able to thrive not just survive.
At this tipping point we have access to more knowledge, more spiritual teachings/practices, more power in our hands than at any other time in our history. Have we destroyed our climate/our earth or are both science and spiritual knowledge showing us the way – indigenous wisdom teaches us how to relate to, ground in and be in dialogue and harmony with our earth; while science is finding new species deep under the sea, finding new understandings of how to alter DNA/stem cells and more to repair our bodies, finding new bacteria that can consume and live on plastics; and studies (often by scientists) of consciousness are opening our minds and hearts to the extraordinary possibilities of our multidimensional nature. Our earth is cleansing and healing as are we humans. This is the darkness before the dawn. I, too, feel the pain that so many are suffering yet I know despair will not ease their suffering or mine. I know that investing in my own awareness allows me to see and serve the external suffering much more effectively.
Yes, I see so much possibility and readiness to awaken, to thrive, to end suffering. Wise people in so many walks of life are speaking of their hope. I feel it. I see and feel grace in the love, kindness, appreciation, and joy I meet and return. It is neither deserved nor undeserved – it emanates from the heart and spirit naturally when we give it to ourselves, give it to others, when others give it to us, when we see it in the earth, the creatures, the elements and the Cosmos dancing and beckoning around us every day. Grace is a gift of loving connection, a blessing from Divine Intelligence to uplift and nurture our knowing who we truly are and what is ours to live, a joyful/creative/soulful life.
Where there is hope, grace and love there is a gentleness that is quiet/compassionate/peaceful and where these three exist the Soul is deeply present. Healing personally and collectively is our work which when buoyed by hope is a power that is ushering humanity into the world we have long hoped for, a world that is more and more alive as another and another and another choose to recognize their true, loving nature.
